Save the date! 16-19 November 2020.
Online AIX and IBM i Education.
Free participation!

The Common Europe Congress is held annually by the European POWER Systems Users Community. For years, it has focused on IBM i technologies only. And now, for the first time, with the active participation of the AIX Portal, it will have a dedicated track of AIX sessions!

November, 17, 2020.
13:00-13:50 Central European Time.
AIX Trends and Directions.
Petra Buehrer, Global Sales Leader driving IBM Power Systems AIX and IBM i Sales, IBM

14:00-14:50 Central European Time..
AIX Performance Tuning for CPU and Memory.
Jaqui Lynch, Lifetime IBM Champion, well-known author of the AIX and VIOS educational topics.

This presentation describes a recommended set of starter tunables to be used on an AIX system and goes into the details of how to determine the settings for those tunables and how to set them. It looks at the general performance tuning approach and tuning CPU and memory.

16:00-16:50 Central European Time..
Ansible on AIX – what do you need? What do you get!
Michael Felt, one of the top contributors to the http://www.rootvg.net, http://forums.rootvg.net, http://www.aixtools.net.

This session is not about using Ansible (Tower) to manage your AIX servers.
Huh? Answer: you don’t need Ansible on AIX to use it on AIX.
So why get started? THAT is what this session is about! — Working with Ansible
from an AIX perspective.
After this session you will be able to:

  • Describe what Ansible is
  • Describe how Ansible fits into AIX System Management
  • List core Ansible Concepts for System Management
  • Install Ansible Control Node on AIX
  • Setup Control Node to manage a remote (AIX) system using Ansible

17:00-17:30 Central European Time.
Q&A – AIX track.
All Speakers of the track. Moderated by AIX Portal.

If you are not interested in IBM i technologies, then, probably, the rest of vCEC will not be very interesting for you, although, who knows, extra knowledge is never superfluous. I will mention only a few, from my point of view, mandatory sessions:
